This Catalytic Carbon Backwashing System is a preferred solution for improving water quality and reducing chemical, chloramine, hydrogen sulfide, odor, chlorine, and taste issues, as well as sediment in water.

This system utilizes 12″×52″ mesh catalytic, high-activity granular carbon derived from steam-activated coconut shells. This specific media excels at reducing chloramines and hydrogen sulfide in potable water through its advanced catalytic properties. Furthermore, its extensive micropore structure effectively targets low molecular weight organic compounds and chlorinated by-products, including chloroform and various trihalomethanes (THMs).

Comes with A KDF 55 Media Guard

High-purity copper-zinc redox media effectively remove up to 99% of free chlorine by converting dissolved chlorine into harmless, water-soluble chloride ions.

KDF media can complement or replace activated carbon filters, eliminating up to 95% of chlorine in municipal water. When used as a pre-treatment, it enhances the lifespan of granular activated carbon (GAC) and helps control bacterial growth within the filter bed.

Suitable for pre-treatment, primary water treatment, and wastewater applications, KDF media can be used alone or alongside carbon filters, including granular, block, or inline systems. It improves filtration efficiency while protecting against fouling.

Unlike silver-based systems, KDF media is non-toxic and does not require EPA registration as a pesticide, making it a safer and more cost-effective alternative.

How it works:

KDF uses a redox (oxidation-reduction) process, where copper and zinc create an electrochemical reaction. This reaction transforms harmful contaminants into harmless substances. For example, chlorine is converted into chloride ions, and heavy metals like lead and mercury are reduced and deposited onto the media surface, effectively removing them from the water.
