If you want to remove fluoride from more than just your kitchen sink, a whole-house system is an effective solution. This system treats water at every faucet through a single installation.

This whole-house system includes 1.5 cubic feet of bone char media. You also have the option to add a 10″ Big Blue housing sediment prefilter (recommended).

1.5 cubic feet of bone char can remove about 1.5 mg/L of fluoride. Bone char is highly effective for reducing fluoride, and it also helps reduce heavy metals, pesticides, and chlorine.

Bone char is effective for fluoride reduction due to its porous hydroxyapatite structure, which removes fluoride through adsorption and ion exchange. It also works like activated carbon in reducing common water contaminants.

A whole-house system treats all water entering the home, helping reduce chemicals at every outlet, including faucets and showers. The larger carbon bed improves filtration efficiency without significantly affecting water pressure.

Activated carbon removes VOCs, chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful chemicals due to its high surface area and strong adsorption capacity.

This system contains 1 cu ft of bone char media for fluoride and contaminant reduction.

What else can it remove?
Bone char can not only reduce fluoride, it can also reduce or remove cadmium, manganese, mercury, lead, iron, zinc, copper, nradio-nuclide, herbicides, pesticides, ickel, aluminum, arsenic, fertilizers, radium and uranium. It’s also been shown to remove tributyl tin oxide, nuvan and malochite green.

How long does it last?
Point-of-use fluoride filter systems typically handle around 5,000 gallons before a filter change, while whole-house systems can process up to about 100,000 gallons. The actual lifespan depends on water usage and fluoride levels, but for an average family of four, an annual filter replacement is usually sufficient. Keeping bulk bone char on hand allows replacement at any time when required.
