KDF85 Media Guard: Advanced Pretreatment for Well Water Systems

The KDF MediaGuard optimizes your existing water softener by adding a dedicated stage for contaminant reduction. Engineered specifically for well water applications, the KDF85 media targets moderate levels of iron and hydrogen sulfide, successfully neutralizing up to 1 ppm of these impurities before they reach your resin bed.

Design and Integration

The system fits directly between the control valve and the tank. By utilizing KDF Process Media as a pretreatment, the unit increases the operational lifespan and cost-efficiency of the entire softening system.

Installation and Mechanics

• Simple Setup: A “twist-lock” mechanism secures the MediaGuard to the valve base and slides over the riser tube (note: incompatible with Turbulator risers).
• Internal Flow: Water distributes into four internal chambers where the media creates a swirling motion. This design increases contact time, ensuring thorough interaction before the water passes through the softener resin.
• Automatic Maintenance: During backwash, the flow reverses to lift the resin and flush sediment. Simultaneously, the KDF media sheds oxidized contaminants to maintain its reactive surface.

Compatibility

Each unit includes a dedicated valve adapter. This system integrates with Fleck 5600, Fleck 2510, and Clack valves to ensure a seamless fit with industry-standard equipment.
