Description

Whole House Water Softener & Filter Systems KDF55 Media

The KDF MediaGuard filter system can be added to any of our water softeners for an additional level of filtration. For municipal water, the KDF-55 MediaGuard is recommended as it reduces chlorine and heavy metals while helping prevent bacterial growth inside the system. Chlorine can damage resin and reduce its lifespan (about 7-10 years @ 1 ppm chlorine vs. 15-20 years @ 0 ppm chlorine).

The MediaGuard twist-locks onto the valve base and slides down the riser tube (not compatible with the Turbulator riser). Water flows into four chambers containing KDF media, where the media mixes with the water to increase contact time. It then passes through the softener resin and exits through the riser tube.

During backwash, the flow reverses. The resin is cleaned of sediment, and the KDF media releases oxidized contaminants, restoring its function.
