This mix of coconut shell activated catalytic carbon, Birm, and KDF 85 is commonly used for reducing iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide, and is effective in removing the “rotten egg” smell from water. It fits standard 4.5″ × 10″ filter housings and supports cost savings through a refillable inline design.

The cartridge combines two filtration media: KDF media and activated carbon. KDF targets iron and hydrogen sulfide, while activated carbon reduces chlorine, odor, and taste issues.

KDF process media consists of high-purity copper-zinc granules that use a redox reaction to reduce contaminants. KDF 85 is effective for removing ferrous iron and hydrogen sulfide and can be used alone or with other filtration systems in point-of-entry water treatment.

It helps reduce chlorine, iron, hydrogen sulfide, and certain heavy metals, while also helping control bacterial growth without chemical additives. It also helps reduce scale buildup and protects activated carbon from fouling, extending filter life.
